How many time have you heard of someone saying "I'm going on a bender," or "I'm going to get smashed out of my head," they are choosing when they are doing this. This gives them a level of controlling when to be out of control.

A person who has lacked control it the past and now the fear experience of losing control again so they bring about control, but go to a more extreme of being domineering.

Greed can relate desire to have more power or/and money or/and control to try to replace the lack of control in the past.
Hanging on to money or wanting more money. That is more money that is of no real benefit to the user as they already have all other needs meet e.g. food, security and extra luxuries., etc...
Wanting to have and hang on to love.
The love of money is the root of all evil. The evil here being the past painful experiences. So why hang on to those painful experiences. Usually because these issues are too deeply buried to be noticed directly and the person hanging on does not know how to let go.
"Pull your self together", "Get a grip,", "Pull your socks up,".
Have you heard these words before ? "Pull your socks up," "Get a grip," and "Pull yourself together,". These types of negative sayings are part of the Mental Health Stigma Don't let other people negative attitudes put you off from seeking help.
You may want and need to pull yourself together after your life has been split apart by the actions of others.
You may want to get a grip, that is to be be held, to be cuddled, comforted by someone. Quite often because you may not have been comforted in the past when needed.
Counteract any negative talk with Affirmations are POSITIVE WORDS AND PHRASES that you repeat to yourself a number of times. The Idea is that if you say it enough, you will start to believe it.

"Feeling sorry for yourself"
"Stop feeling sorry for yourself", if you've ever heard this then it is usually the opposite of what you need to do, in a safe and controlled way. Quite often you do need to feeling sorry for yourself, after all no one else will.
