Stress for a mature person.

A more mature person may have the life experience, sometimes, to help them cope with a stress-causing event. They are more likely to have supportive people that have some understanding of such events.

They are more likely to have a knowledge of where to receive help should they feel they require it.

As we grow older we are more likely to experience loss of family members or friends. We are also more likely to have to experience employment changes, redundancy and other life changes that may cause us stress.

Some of these changes may require you to make even bigger changes in your lives. For example a change in employment may require you to move to a new area. This may cause additional stress because we may have other family members to consider. For example what about your children's change in schools and how will they cope in a new area. What about your partners friends or relations, will this mean they are no longer able to see them so much.

As a young person they may have witnessed traumatic events for which they will probably not have a total understanding of.

They may have had their emotions overlooked because they are expected sometimes just to understand and where not told enough details to have a true understanding.

They may also have been told a biased view of what has occurred by people they are expected to trust. This may lead to a conflict which may only reveal itself in later life.

Guilt may also occur because as a child the person may have been lead to believe that it was acceptable to take certain actions which as an adult they realise are wrong.
